  5. When the cake is brown and well baked,remove from the oven and pour half of the sugar syrup on the cake. Cut it into squares and add the remaining syrup

My tip here is to pour the sugar syrup over the Basbousa just as it comes out of the oven. If you pour the syrup when the cake is hot makes sure it can absorb as.
