- Make ready 350 gm Basmati rice

- Take water 4 times more than rice in a cooking vessel. Put the cardamom, Cinnamon, bay leaves and salt and bring to boil. Keep this aside and covered
- Cut the onions into thin slices. Fry 1 onion till deep brown and keep aside. Fry the potatoes half cut and keep aside
- Add some oil and ghee into the pan. Add Jeera and Garam masala into it. Add the remaining onion and garlic and saute it
- Add Ginger and garlic paste, tomato pieces and fry it for a while
- Once the masala is well cooked, add the marinated chicken into it and mix well. Let it cook covered in low heat
- Keep mixing the chicken in between and cook it till the chicken is well cooked. This will take around 45-60 min
- Once chicken is soft add the Biryani masala,garam masala and 1/2 teaspoon sugar and mix well and remove
- Add the soaked rice into the water prepared in step 2 and let it cook. Once rice is done, keep it aside to cool
- Take a separate vessel and put one layer of rice into it. Add 2-3 drops of rose water, some saffron, ghee and meetha atar(essence).Add a layer of chicken and some potatoes on it
- Repeat the same for one more layer and cover it. Put the fried onions on top
- Serve from a side to get appropriately mixed rice and chicken
